Pianist Hanbo Ma has made appearances in solo recitals as well as being featured with orchestras throughout North America, establishing herself as one of today's promising emerging artists. Her career started by giving a performance of Islamey by Balakirev at Severence Hall in Cleveland at the age of 17, after which she started to draw attentions by winning competitions such as San Jose International Piano Competition, St. Andrews International Piano Competition, as well as being selected as the only recipient of Cobos Piano Prize given by Eastman School of Music in 2015.
As an active young pianist, Hanbo has been engaged with not only solo recitals, but also with chamber groups and composers of the new generation. She was invited to be the scholar at Heartland Chamber Music Festival in 2013, where her chamber performance was live-streamed on Kansas Public Radio. She recently is in preparation of premiering composer Elizabeth Baker's newly written composition Four Planes, which is a piano composition that the composer wrote for her.
Her recent success in winning First Prize of Los Angeles International Liszt Competition brings her to a recital tour in Washington D.C., Budapest and London presenting an all-Liszt program. Hanbo Ma is currently pursuing Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Southern California with legendary pianist Daniel Pollack.
