Edinburgh International Film Festival
with the support of the Hungarian Cultural Centre London presents
Ferenc Török's film '1945'

Between 21 June - 2 July the 71st Edinburgh International Film Festival sets the scene for premieres, retrospectives, world renowned shorts and animation programmes, plus star–studded red carpet galas. We are proud to present that this year's programme features Hungarian director Ferenc Török's new 'Western' 1945.

As part of the European Perspectives Strand, the film will be screened two times, on 1st July at 6.20pm and 2nd July at 1.15pm in the Cineworld Cinema.

1945 (91 mins, 2017)
12 August 1945. The inhabitants of a village in rural Soviet-occupied Hungary are preparing for the town clerk's daughter's wedding, when two Orthodox Jewish men arrive at the railway station with two large trunks. As they silently make their way to town, a growing panic spreads amongst some of the more prominent townsfolk. Ferenc Török's striking monochrome 'Western' is a tense, chilling, beautifully nuanced drama set in a difficult, transitional period in Hungarian history.
