606 Jazz Club
90 Lots Rd, Chelsea, London SW10 0QD

Great tenor-player Sándor Molnár from Hungary with an all-star backing of Gareth Williams, Yuri Golubev & Martin France in London concert at the 606 Club

In association with Harmonia Műhely Alapítvany and the Hungarian Cultural Centre in London

The brilliant young Hungarian tenorman, Sándor Molnár produces a beautiful, muscular, dark tone on his horn, plays jazz that sounds like jazz, he is a soulful hard bop player, so true lovers of the genre will absolutely love him. He already played at the 606 two years ago in an Anglo-Hungarian mini-festival where he was cheered to the rafters. He is a contemporary of that other virtuosic Hungarian tenor-player, Gabor Bolla and, like Gabor, a musical descendant of Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane.

Gareth Williams has established himself as one of the UK's leading modern jazz pianists. A fiery and creative player his remarkable talent has been seen with an impressive array of world-class artists, from Jazz/Hip Hop band "US3" through to internationally-renowned artists such as Joe Lovano, George Coleman and Dave Liebman. MD for highly regarded UK vocalist Claire Martin, Gareth has been featured at the Club on many occasions, most notably in his regular appearances with iconic US sax star Jerry Bergonzi. Widely regarded as a pianist of international stature. "...dynamite pianist" Evening Standard; "... fantastic improviser" The Guardian.

Russian born but now UK resident, the multi-award winning bass player Yuri Golubev is unquestionably international musician of considerable standing. Classically trained Yuri is the youngest musician ever to be awarded the prestigious title of Honoured Artist of Russia in 2001. Since then his commitment to Jazz has seen him move from a mix of classical and jazz performances to exclusively jazz. His fluent and powerful playing has been heard  with the likes of Julian Arguelles, Tim Garland, Rick Margitza, Ralph Towner and Kenny Werner on a towering cv that includes performances not only throughout Europe but also Asia, North and South Americas, and South Africa. In the UK he is probably best known for his duo and trio work with the leading UK jazz pianist Gwilym Simcock.
"remarkable Russian double-bass virtuoso Yuri Goloubev...breathtaking" Guardian

Drummer Martin France has been the rhythmic backbone on more than 100 albums working with some of the world's finest musicians. "Combining fluid groove playing with powerhouse virtuosity, Martin has been the driving rhythmic force behind Loose Tubes, Kenny Wheeler Big Band, Delightful Precipice and most recently his own band Spin Marvel.

Throughout a career spanning over thirty five years Martin France has performed and recorded with some of the world's finest and creative musicians  like Elvis Costello, John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler, Ralph Towner, John Dankworth, Lee Konitz, Dave Holland, Steve Swallow, Bob Mintzer and The Yellowjackets, John Surman and Joe Lovano to name but a few.
