Join us for our next Monday Music Soirée and listen to some jazz tunes
presented by the Hungarian GAYER/HOFECKER DUO
in the Hungarian Cultural Centre London

With the influence of mainstream jazz, the duo's repertoire consists of the great American songbook, own compositions, as well as songs from the bebop/hardbop era.


Despite his young age (25), Mátyás Gayer is in possession of several prestigious music awards and he is one of the leading figures in the new generation of jazz. In both 2014 and 2015, Matyas Gayer was a finalist at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition. The Hungarian pianist received Bachelor Of Arts degree with honour in Graz in 2014 and completed Master Of Performing Arts studies at the Private University of Music, Vienna in 2017. He has played and recorded with such greats as Jim Rotondi, Luis Bonilla, Stjepko Gut, Don Menza, etc.


Mátyás Hofecker is one of the most popular young jazz bassists in Central Europe and has played with the jazz world's elite including Harold Mabern, Joe Farnsworth, Sheila Jordan or Dusko Goykovich. Hofecker studied playing bass at Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest where he finished in 2013, then moved to Austria and completed Master Of Performing Arts studies at the Private University of Music, Vienna in 2017.

The two Hungarian jazz musician has been together on stage for years, playing at prestigious venues in Europe such as Jamboree Barcelona, 606 London, Jazzkeller Frankfurt etc. In 2016 the accustomed duo performed a concert with the world-famous American saxophonist, Jesse Davis.
