Jazz night with Tamás Balogh
The Hungarian Cultural Centre presents Tamás Balogh a young pianist full of energy and innovation on an amazing night of improvisation.

The twenty-four-year-old jazz pianist and composer has just finished the Jazz Department of Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary, but has already achieved several remarkable results, staged large-scale concerts and won prestigious music awards, both individually and with his band. In 2013 he was honoured with the Creative Art Award founded by György Vukán, and in 2014 his quartet won the Romanian Targu Mures International Jazz Competition. In the spring of 2015, his band was awarded first place at the Jazz Combo Competition launched by the Czech Jazz Contest together with the Hungarian Jazz Association. The Tamás Balogh Quartet appeared at the Academy of Music, the Palace of Arts and several other jazz venues in Hungary as well as abroad. On two occasions Tamás was honoured to play at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall of the Palace of Arts, joined on stage by his highly respected master, Károly Binder, the great Hungarian jazz composer and pianist. In 2015 he was listed among the 'The 50 Most Talented Young Hungarians', mentored by the popular Hungarian singer Zséda (Adrienn Zsédenyi), with whom he has since recorded a song. Although deeply influenced by music at an early age, the young pianist-composer only started playing music at the age of thirteen, when he took up drumming. Jazz, however, turned out to be more influential in his musical career, due to this, he soon transferred to piano. Tamás is focused on jazz, what it sounds like today and how he can address his generation with his improvisational music. He would like to prove that the various musical styles are not in competition with each other, but rather complement one another.
