Pilvax Experience - Coffeehouse Revolution

Immerse yourself in the historic atmosphere of the 1848 Hungarian Revolution that started in the famous Pilvax Café in Budapest.

On 10 March, the Hungarian Cultural Centre will be transformed into a 19th century coffeehouse where a unique and interactive improv theatre performance will evoke the buzzing Pilvax on the day of the Revolution, with appearances of historic characters such as Sándor Petőfi and many others. Our guests will also be welcome to enjoy some traditional Hungarian pastries and hot drinks, similar to the treats served at the Pilvax.

The Pilvax Café was the setting where the city's zealous artists and intellectuals regularly got together to exchange opinions about life in Hungary under the Habsburg regime. It eventually became the main hub of the 1848 Revolution, when Sándor Petőfi recited his emblematic poem 'National Song' for the first time.
The event will be held in three identical segments on the same day. Due to limited space, seating will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The event is free but registration is required via Eventbrite.
